With the current coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic, some mobile phone network providers are offering discounts and/or extra benefits to the National Health Service, NHS staff and care workers, in recognition for their fantastic work during this difficult time.
If you work for the NHS and have a Pay Monthly mobile contract with O2, they will provide you with an extra 10GB each month for the next 3 months on your personal plan.
You will need to apply for this by the 12th June 2020. Simply send O2 an email to
firstname.lastname@example.org from your work NHS email account with your name and mobile number. O2 will then text you when your extra data has been added. This extra data will appear as a Bolt On in your My O2 account and on your bill for the next 3 months. Your O2 mobile tariff details won't change.
To be eligible, you will need a personal O2 Pay Monthly contract and have a valid NHS email account. This offer is not available for Pay As You Go or those with unlimited data or sharer tariffs.
Vodafone are offering six months of unlimited mobile data for free to NHS staff, care workers and also vulnerable customers.
NHS staff will need to register their NHS email address with Vodafone. Once verified, they will be notified and upgraded to the 6 months free unlimited Vodafone mobile data offer.
This offer is also available to the first 250,000 care workers who apply before 26th June 2020. Care workers can redeem the Vodafone unlimited data offer by logging in online and entering their employer's name, address, and email.
Pay Monthly customers who are already registered on Vodafone as NHS staff or flagged as vulnerable, will automatically be informed by SMS text message and provided with this offer.
Tesco Mobile are offering a free bundle of 500GB data and 5000 minutes free each month for frontline NHS staff who are on a Tesco Mobile pay monthly plan.
To get the free Tesco Mobile 500GB data and 5000 minutes bundle, you will need to be signed up as a Tesco Mobile pay monthly customer and register via the triage route, using your NHS organisational coordinator.
Once eligible and successfully registered, Tesco Mobile will send you an SMS text message to let you know then they are being added to your Tesco account.
Currently this offer is available until 30th June 2020 but maybe extended subject to a review by Tesco of the situation.
BT Mobile are providing NHS workers free unlimited data on their SIM Only, Family SIM, Data SIM and mobile handset plans. This offer is available to BT Mobile customers that work for the NHS and have a valid NHS email address.
If you are eligible, you can register for BT Mobile NHS unlimited data.
Once your details have been validated by BT, they will apply the unlimited data to your account within 7 days. You will then receive an SMS text message when the data has been successfully applied.
Due to the uncertainty around the Covid-19 situation, there is no set expiry date at this time, and so this NHS Unlimited Data offer from BT Mobile is valid until further notice.
EE offer a permanent 20% discount for those working in the emergency services (including for their friends and family) on selected EE mobile pay monthly plans.
Online registration must be completed using a valid work email or employee ID via the EE registration page. Once the registration details have been verified by EE, an email will be sent back with a link to the EE online portal where discount codes can be generated.
For eligibility, please check to see if your organisation is on the approved partner list or contact your company HR representative. Eligible employees have a total of five discount codes per year in which they can use or gift to their EE friends and family. Discount codes can only be used when upgrading or purchasing a new contract on EE mobile.
